The MA87728-M01 is a varactor-tuned X-band Gunn oscillator transceiver designed for low-power commercial FM Doppler radar systems. It features a Gunn VCO with at least 50 MHz electronic tuning and an integrated mixer diode inside a compact waveguide package.

The Doppler return signal is available at the mixer output pin, allowing detection of motion, velocity, and direction. When a target moves toward or away from the antenna, the transmitted signal experiences a Doppler frequency shift proportional to the target's velocity.

Distance measurement can also be achieved by FM modulation of the transmitter frequency, comparing the transmitted and returned frequencies to determine the range.

The transceiver can be factory modified to operate at other frequencies from 9.4 GHz to 10.6 GHz, allowing compliance with frequency regulations in different countries.
